Abstract: The paper examines the degree to which and the ways in which gender matters in the distribution of tropes and in the construction of narrative in synagogue literature from late antique Palestine. Bio: Tzvi Novick holds the Abrams Chair of Jewish Thought and Culture at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on rabbinic literature and liturgical poetry from late antiquity.
