M.A. Programs

The Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies is not a degree-granting unit and therefore accepts no students for graduate degrees in Jewish Studies. The Committee on Jewish Studies is also no longer an academic unit in the University. Furthermore, departments in the Humanities and Social Sciences no longer accept students for terminal M.A.’s, although they award the degree to students in their Ph.D. programs upon completion of a number of requirements.

Students who would like to receive an M.A. in Jewish Studies should apply either to one of the divisional M.A. programs in the Humanities (MAPH) or Social Sciences (MAPSS) or to the M.A. program in the Divinity School. When admitted, the student should make contact with the Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies whose faculty will work with the student to construct a program that meets his/her interests in Jewish Studies.
